The Sky is Falling!

I am sharing some insight into what I call the Eagle Christian. I pray they inspire and challenge you to mount up on eagle’s wings and place our trust and faith in God. Enjoy.

Henny Penny, also known as Chicken Little, is a folk tale about a chicken who believes the world is coming to an end.  The phrase “The sky is falling!” is threaded throughout the tale.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of Christian believers who live like their sky is falling every day.  They are called Chicken Christians.

Like chickens, Chicken Christians like to follow the crowd.  They move and exist in the crowd and if the crowd moves, they move.  Their security is in the crowd and never alone.

Filled with low self esteem and limited desire to achieve, they are worldly birds who live life scratching around the dirt here and there always with their heads down.  They seldom fly unless it is necessary and if they do, it is only a few feet off the ground in defense and never in offense.

Like chickens, if they see a bunch of other chicken believers running, they run.  It doesn’t matter where they are going. They follow each other with fear of being left out.

Chickens squabble and fight over things in the chicken yard.  If one finds a nice juicy bug to eat, suddenly they all want it. They will chase each other all over the chicken yard, trying to take it away from another. No one will want the worm but if one grabs it, every chicken wants the worm and they chase each other around the yard to obtain it.  Chicken Christians do the same.  Because most of them have a ‘oh poor me’ mind set, they can not stand someone having something they do not.

Chickens go through what is called molting time or the losing their feathers. Many times when this happens other chickens peck them until they are all bloody.  Because of jealousy, these believers will peck each other to bring them down.

Chicken Christians have no interest in the heavenlies. They are content to live in the chicken yard walking around with their eyes on the ground and scratching in the dirt looking for something to eat. Most of them will never try to fly. They are earthbound birds.

They love dust baths covering themselves with the things of this world like worry, anxiety, stress, and defeat. Their mindsets never get above the ground. They peck the ground, live on the ground, and bathe on the ground. Chickens don’t believe we serve the Most High God who desires to take his people high. They worship a god who is lowly and impotent.

What most people need to remember is the chicken is the most eaten poultry meat.  In the United States, chicken competes with beef as the most eaten meat in most households.  You never hear anyone nor anything ever eating the eagle. Anyone whose eyes are to the ground will be eaten up by the enemy.

Like the eagle, learn to fly high.  You can! The God you serve is the Most High God. Nothing is higher than Him. Let Him teach you the eagle life and how to fly high when the things of this world desires us to dust baths every day.  Spread your wings and learn to fly high.

Don’t place in your trust in the pecking order of life.  Don’t run with the crowd.  Run with God and He will cause you mount up like eagle’s wings.

Now the final bird we want to visit is the vulture. . .
