An Eagle’s Diet: Feasting on the Presence of God

I am sharing some insight into what I call the Eagle Christian. I pray they inspire and challenge you to mount up on eagle’s wings and place our trust and faith in God. Enjoy.

Every person’s has the ability to get into the presence of God. You don’t have to be alone and one of the keys to getting into the presence of God is worship.  Worship is forgetting about what’s wrong with you and remembering what’s right with God. To be able to worship God when you don’t feel like it says your worship isn’t circumstantial.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16 NIV

I hate working out and I am definitely not a runner. The treadmill is my preferred equipment and walking is my preferred pace. I have found the more I walk, the more I prefer to run. I will walk a lot and then run a little.

While on the treadmill, I sometimes listen to worship music. I have found when I get into the worship zone and I am focused on God and not my circumstances, my pace quickens. I then find my pace will get into a running mode. Walking is not fast enough. The presence of God makes you go hard.

If you are unable to stand, the presence of God will help you stand. After you stand, then you will be able to walk. After awhile, you will be able to run.  After your run, the presence of God will enable you to fly.

Presence of Other Believers

Another key to getting into the presence of God is getting into the presence of God’s people.  As believers, we do not have to do life alone. We have one another.  We need one another. We need each other to survive because another’s survival is your survival.

We need affirmation and the assurance of God’s word. We desperately need to motivate one another. Our faith is team sport. It takes us working together to make it together. The writer of Hebrews shares:

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.  Hebrews 10:23-25

Paul declared we all belong with each other and how we are all members of the same family:

So it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. Romans 12:5

So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family. Ephesians 2:19

There is power in fellowship, accountability, and encouragement.  Like bees cross-pollinating,we need each other’s life saving support. We need opportunities to share struggles and joys and a place to escape from the influences of the world.

When sharing with a new believer about what to do in their new life, I share one thing – be in church every week.  Forget about reading your Bible temporarily.  Forget about praying. Get into one of our small groups. Be at church every Sunday. The reason is because their survival depends on it.

Like being chased by a lion, being alone increases your chance being eaten. With others and their tools, you will survive and thrive. You do not have to live life alone.
