The Biggest Misconception About God

I believe God is misunderstood. I misunderstood Him for most of my life.  I lived in every in an anti-emotional state of God one could have.  I was scared of Him.  I thought His love was conditional.  I thought my place in His Kingdom was conditional.  On and on these thoughts plagued my mind. But there is one misconception about God which rose above all others which is 100 percent contrary – God is a taker.

This thought is totally contrary to who God is. God, our heavenly Father is NOT a taker.  He is a giver – generous over-the-top, more than enough giver.  I know it personally yet the Bible is clear repeatedly about His nature as a giver. Here are just a few beginning with the well-known John 3:16

For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son. John 3:16

Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32

It is the devil who is the thief. He comes to steal, kill and destroy. But Jesus came to give us life more abundant. John 10:10

And my favorite:

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11

Since the garden of Eden, Satan has lied to God’s ultimate creation about God’s character as one who takes and takes and takes.  Yet God, in his ultimate goodness, gives and gives and gives and is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) That is our Daddy God!

Today, get out the stinking thinking the devil desires for us to have and begin to renew your mind of God’s goodness of giving everything you need and desire! God is a giver and not a taker.
