He has told you, O man, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God? Malachi 6:8
Justice is a personal primary personality trait. I like to see justice. I hate cheating systems. I hate the cheating of people. I love when justice wins in the end.
Martin Luther King, Jr. said ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” As believers, we must stand up for justice for all – not the few. We have been commissioned to do justice to everyone around us. Fairness should run in our veins. Honesty must be upon our lips. Equity must be both in our right and our left hands.
Our God is a God of justice and kindness and He requires the same of us. God placed His highest creation, man, before all things and man is required to be like our God and place man before all things. Yet, do we? Do you?
I am not perfect at it. I strive to be just in all things. One of MLK’s quotes I refer and share often is the time is always right to do what is right. In the times we live, we don’t pause and consider others.
We are called to take the high road. We are called to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. (James 1:19). We have been commanded to love others just as much as we love ourselves. (Mark 12:31) The question is do we love ourselves? Has our society pushed us to not love ourselves so in turn we hurt, abuse, and put down others and justice truly evades?
Look around and do just. Show love and kindness today. Walk humbly with your God and allow God’s goodness and justice to flow from you to others.
