Wednesday’s Words of Wisdom from the Wise

Pastor Russ Taylor

Don’t poor mouth it!

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. Psalm 37:25 NIV

Let the poor say, “I am rich!” In other words, don’t poor-mouth it! The God we serve is willing and able to pay full retail!  On the other hand, don’t refuse a sincere gift (they may need to give), but don’t expect it. This is not a matter of pride, but of confidence in the God whom we serve.

We are quick to proclaim that our heavenly Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. We memorize and quote Scriptures that speak of God’s love and provision. After all, God has promised to supply our every need. May the words of our mouth testify to His faithfulness.

The promises of Psalm 37 belongs to those who trust in the Lord and do good (Verse 3), take delight in the Lord (Verse 4), commit their ways to the Lord (Verse 5), and who are still before him and patiently wait (Verse 7).

Pastor Russ Taylor serves leaders and pastors in their roles today as a counselor, advisor and confidant from his years of experience in ministry, pastoring and missions work. I have asked Pastor Russ Taylor to provide wisdom for these times we are facing.
